Street Contacts and a Mini Mission: 8/29/2016

Hey everyone!! Hope ya'll are doing good. Sorry it's been a while since I have typed up one of these, but I have been so busy!! Hope this all finds you happy and well though.

Well this past week has been pretty great! Æ. Smith and I have been doing some great work! Had a great P-Day down in Slagelse with some other missionaries. They (yes they, not me included) did the Nougat Bit challenge. That is where you dump a whole box of nougat bits and a whole carton of milk in a bowl and see how fast you can eat it. Our district leader, Æ. Williams, kicked everyones butts. He finished in 12 minutes I think haha. Maybe I'll give it a shot next time.

On Tuesday, we met this way nice lady on the street. She said she was in her 90's! Way nice, sat and talked with us about religion and how much the world truly needs it. It was a great conversation. She said she remembers the missionaries teaching her parents when she was a little girl. Talking to her made my day!

On Thursday we had District meeting (in slagelse) afterwhich, Nykøbing Falster Æ. came home with us and we were on splits Thursday and Friday. Did some great work with them. Taught a ton of street and doorstop lessons. Got a great amount of potentials from it. We kicked butt this week, like we hit our beds physically and mentaly exhausted last night! Missionary work is awesome:)

On Friday and Saturday we had "Mini Mission" where one of the youth in our ward went out with us to do some contacting and teaching! We had a great time with him. On Saturday they had this little zone conference like thing for the missionaries that went out with the youth. It was pretty cool!

So I got pulled over speeding... this is how it happened. I was driving on a road that is 80 kmh and I was going 110, not really paying attention to my speed. When about 400 meters ahead of me a dude in a yellow vest jumps out in the middle of the road, right in front of me, holding a sign that says stop. He danced around and directed me to pull over. It was a speed trap. There were 2 cops with a radar gun, waiting underneath a bridge. When they would catch people speeding they would jump into the middle of the road to stop them hahaha. Well I was expecting to get a HUGE ticket, but the officer returned and said there was a malfunction with his radar gun so they couldn't give me a ticket...WAHOO!!!! Blessings right there:)

I'm loving life here in Denmark. I have experienced so much, impossible to write about it all. My testimony has grown so much and continues to grow. I am truly thankful for this church and the way it has changed my life for the better. I love you all, have a killer week!

Skype with members in Greenland: 8/22/2016

Hey you guys!! Thanks a ton for your emails. They really mean so much to me. I love reading them, seeing what you have been up to, and hearing your strong testimonies. It has been a huge help for me. So tusind tak!

Looks like ya'll have had a blast down in St. George! Anyone get sun burn't? I got the craziest missionary tan lines right now haha you should see my arms and collar line haha. Looks like a way fun time:) Too bad summer is winding down to an end:/

I had a great day yesterday. Æ. Smith and I were able to Skype with the 2 members on Greenland! It was such a great experience. They are way awesome people:) A pretty young couple. I gave a talk on Love and Charity and Æ. Smith talked about how to recognize the spirit! We skyped them at the Stockholms house then had dinner with the Stockholms right after! I love that family:) I taught the lesson in Gospel Principles yesterday as well. The topic was Honesty, and 25 minutes into the lesson I felt insanley inspired to bear testimony and talk about the 1st vision. So I switched gears completely and starting talking about that. Everyone probably wondered what in the world am I doing, but The Spirit was felt so strong!! It was a great experience that I can't really explain with words. One of the members had his non member girlfriend in the class and I knew she was feeling the spirit. I gave him a Book of Mormon that he could give to her after the class. Way cool experience:)

Other than that it's just been the same ol'. Lot's of Knocking and street contacting. We are working with a couple great people right now! We had zone conference this last week where there was a huge push on working with members. I have loved my time in Roskilde. The ward is great. Really supportive and strong members. It's most likely I will be leaving next transfer. So in like 3 weeks.

1 year from this day, I'm going to be on a plane heading home...Woah that's kind of scary! Yeah today is my 1 year till death mark! Crazy to think that I have been gone for almost a whole year! Words can't express all that I have learned and experienced on my mission. Stuff that I will never be able to forget and will contually have a huge influence on my life. I love my mission. I love this church. I love my Savior and am so thankful for all that He has done for me. I miss you guys. I think of you daily and have you all in my prayers! Have a great week:)

Training and a Temple Trip:  8/1/2016

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing great:) This past week has been a pretty good one! It started off with Æ. Smith and I going to the mission home for his 30 Day-in training. He was the only elder in his group and he came with 6 sister missionaries, so there were a ton of sister missionaries haha. The training went really well though. Learned a lot (as a missionary you find yourself continually learning, even when you think you got some things figured out) and got really motivated to incorporate what I learned into my area, Holbæk.

We were able to go to the temple in Copenhagen! That was probably the highlight of my week! I love attending the temple. I wish I was able to go every week. The spirit is so strong there.  Just bares testimony to me how God's true church, in it's fullness, is on the earth today. I am so thankful that I am a part of it.

After church yesterday, we had fællesspisning (like a ward lunch) Æ. Smith and I baked about 150 chocolate cookies and they were gone before we knew it! The members loved them:) Danes get the trophy for pastries but no one can beat a solid, American chocolate-chip cookie:) We had a lot of people in church and I was able to talk to a lot of different members. I love the members here in the ward I serve in. Roskilde menighed is full of kind, friendly, out going people.

I've felt pretty blessed this week. The work here in Holbæk has been on a rise. Æ. Smith and I have seen the Lord's hand working miracles to those we serve.  It's sad to hear and see all the unrest in the middle east. We have a lot of rules we have to follow to while teaching the refugees, but I love every opportunity I get to share the Gospel with them from that part of the world. I truly miss those I worked with in Sønderborg. I find myself thinking of them often, I pray that everything works out for them.

The weather has cooled down a tiny bit, near the end of the week we had some really good sized rain storms. Still pretty warm when the sun is out though. Crazy humid!! The humidity is what kills me.

Hope all is well for everyone back home!! Have a great week:)

Splits and a Parking Ticket: 7/25/2016

Hey everyone!! Hope you all have had a great week. This one is going to be somewhat short cause of lack of time.

Anywho, this past week had some good ups and downs! We had a fun P-Day in København with some other Ældste. When I got back to the train station, I was so fortunate to find a 750.00 dkk parking ticket on my windshield... So that put a damper on my day and my wallet. Had splits with Æ. from Nykøbing Falster. Splits is always a lot of fun! They came up to are area in Holbæk.

The weather has been so hot lately!! Holy crap, it's like mid 80,s with like 70 to 80 percent humidity. So that's been wrecking my shop! Holy cow, I think I have sweated nonstop this entire week!! Going to sleep is so hard cause of how hot it is. Denmark is BEAUTIFUL in the summer, but oh boy do I miss those winter temps.

So I got a way cool assignment from my mission president! A month from yesterday, we will be skyping with the 2 members that live in Greenland:) They have their own little sacrament meeting and Æ. Smith and I will be on standby on skype to give some talks:) I'm so excited for that!! Missionaries always talk about it but I totally can't wait for Greenland to open for missionary work!! Way excited to skype these members though:)

Other than that, not a whole lot new this week. Æ. Smith and I have been working hard knocking doors and contacting everyone we see. We know that through our obedience and diligence the Lord will send us to those honest and prepared to receive the gospel into their lives! I love my mission. I know this work is true!! What a blessing to have the Restored Gospel in our lives. I pray for jeres happiness and health! Have a great week:) Vi snakkes
